Our New Home

After 20 years of renting we can now say we are home owners. Linda and I exchanged contracts on our home that is not far from where we live.

We have moved 12 times in those 20 years but this one is exciting.

The family photo

We had our family photo taken just recently so here they are.

Micah's first day at the golf driving range

Micah and I went to the driving range it was our first time out together to hit some balls. I purchased a kids set of clubs and we started hitting away. I am not sure that he has the hang of it yet but at he is almost 4 so I am sure it won't take long to pick it up.

I purchased him a set of Srixon Junior Clubs they seem like a great starter set.

Where have I been.

I looked at my empty blog for some time and kept thinking I'll add something soon but weeks past and nothing.

Well here is a brief update. I have been very busy in my new role with CCLI. Getting to know the great team I work with, understanding the complexities of Copyright Law and generally having a great time.

Linda had her knee surgery 4 weeks ago and that is a slow recovery but she is doing ok.

well that's it for now I said it would be brief...

Phoenix

Phoenix is hot and dry but is a pretty spectacular place. The rental car terminal was as big as many airport I have been at. I got to play golf and have had a great time here.

Home Loan

I decided to attend a home loan seminar our bank was putting on last night. And while it was informative the thought of borrowing just under half a million dollars scares the pants off me.

Why so much? Well, the average 4 bedroom home here in Sydney is not cheap and you would get much change from $450,000 AUD or about $340,020 USD. This would be our first home purchase so it is all new.

For those who have encouraged me to move to Boise or Kentucky, Vermont for more affordable housing, your encouragement has always been tempting BUT Australia is too beautiful to want to leave.

My New Car

I got to order my new car this past week and hope to take delivery in September. It is a Holden Calais and is being provided by CCLI for my new role.

My time in Boise is almost over.

I am still in Eagle, just outside of Boise Idaho and I am looking forward to heading home. I really enjoy visiting the team here, we had lots of fun, but I miss my family. I really enjoy being with them so just a few more days and I get give them a hug and kiss :)

Winter to Summer in a day

I flew into Boise Idaho yesterday to a nice temp of 38C/100F at 6pm. It was about 15C/57F in Sydney when I left.

Right now I'm in the mountains at McCall about 2.5 hours out of Boise overlooking a large lake. I will be here for 2 more days then drive back to Eagle.

Change of Plans

I have been very content working for myself for the past few years, infact it has been almost 8 years since I have had a REAL job :) Where I am accountable to someone other than my family and where I work 40 hours a week instead of 60+.

I was recently approached to consider taking on a significant position working within the Australian office of an international company. Initially I thought it was a role that I would not want to do, but as I began thinking about the possibilities I began to get excited. I have enjoyed being my own person for a number of years, yet now it is time to change.

I saw how God was orchestrating connections that brought about the meeting with the CEO that wasn't just coincidence.

So, while this was not something I was looking for, I have accepted the position to be the new Managing Director of CCLI Asia Pacific.

I will continue to do the web development on a much smaller scale, and working with existing clients, but I won't be taking on any new work.

Personally it will give me greater scope to use my skills on a much bigger scale and it will also benefit us as a family.

Stay tuned to find out more about CCLI and the new role I take up later this year.

School Photo

Micah had his preschool photo taken a couple of weeks ago. Class photos are usually not that flattering but this one is a great shot of him.
